The VISD Connections will host a series of Parent University sessions in February designed to equip families with practical tools and strategies to support their childrenโs academic growth. All sessions will be held at VISD Connections, located at 3002 E. North Street, Suite J.
The February lineup includes topics focused on special education advocacy, hands-on STEM learning at home, and math support for secondary students.
The first session, ARD 101: Advocating for Your Child and Questions to Ask During the ARD Process, will take place on Thursday, February 13, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This session is designed for families of students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and will walk parents through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal process, including what to request and how to effectively advocate for their child.
On Wednesday, Feb. 19, VISD will offer two sessions from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Families of elementary students are invited to attend Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Elementary, which provides simple lessons and activities parents can use at home to spark curiosity and learning. At the same time, parents of middle and high school students can participate in the Secondary Math Session, which focuses on strategies for practicing math skills at home and building confidence with homework, especially as students prepare for the upcoming spring math season.
Parent University is part of Victoria ISDโs ongoing commitment to partnering with families and providing accessible learning opportunities that strengthen student outcomes.
All sessions will be hosted at VISD Connections. Families are encouraged to reserve their spot by visiting https://www.visd.net/page/parent-university. For more information, parents may contact VISD Connections at 361-788-9909.
