Victoria ISD and campus leadership are gearing up for the VISD Summer Planning Institute (SPI), a focused effort to ensure campuses are prepared for a strong and successful start to the school year. As part of the district’s ongoing commitment to academic excellence and strategic planning, SPI provides campus teams with the time and support needed to deeply analyze data, align priorities, and develop action plans that will guide their work throughout the year.

The Summer Planning Institute is designed for campus leadership teams—including principals, assistant principals, and instructional coaches—who will participate in two full days of focused planning and data-driven collaboration. Throughout the institute, each campus team will thoroughly review and analyze a wide range of campus-level data, including student discipline, attendance, academic performance, and the results of the District Culture and Climate Survey.

The goal of SPI is for every leadership team to develop a comprehensive School Action Plan that reflects their campus priorities, outlines clear goals, and identifies strategic actions to support student and staff success. These plans will serve as a roadmap for the school year and will be revisited weekly during campus leadership team meetings and through ongoing collaboration with the VISD Academic Services administrative team. This consistent follow-through and accountability checks will allow schools to assess their progress, adjust as needed, and celebrate growth throughout the year.

“Our students deserve an educational experience grounded in thoughtful planning, high expectations, and responsive leadership,” said VISD Superintendent Sheila Collazo. “The Summer Planning Institute is about giving our campus leaders the time and tools they need to reflect, plan, and start the year with clarity and purpose. It’s about placing students front and center and making decisions rooted in data, collaboration and with high levels of execution.”

The SPI is just one component of VISD’s expanded summer planning framework, which underscores the district’s continued investment in instructional leadership, student achievement, and long-term success.
