Are you getting your little one ready for their very first day of school? Are you not completely sure what they’ll be doing every day? Join your school family at Froggy Camp to learn about everything VISD Pre-K!
Froggy Camp is a special opportunity for parents/guardians and our youngest students to meet school staff, learn about the campus, visit their classrooms, meet their teachers, and meet their classmates. This is where parents can also learn about the importance of Pre-K and all the benefits associated with it. Keep reading to find out about everything you and your little one will get to do at Froggy Camp!
Froggy Camp will be held on Thursday, August 8, from 4 to 5 p.m. at your child’s home campus. Upon arrival, parents will go to their children’s classrooms to meet the teacher. Students will be able to meet each other and begin a puzzle activity while parents confirm or change information with the teacher for the first day of school.
Around 4:15 p.m., parents will head to the cafeteria (or other specified location) for a parent event. Students who are comfortable will stay in the classroom with their teacher for more activities. If two parents can attend Froggy Camp and your child feels uncomfortable staying in the classroom, one of you is welcome to stay with your child while the other attends the parent event. If only one parent attends, you can choose to leave your child in the classroom or take them with you to the parent event.
While parents are at their event, students will do fun activities with their teacher. Students will get to complete a tabletop activity, sit, play, and share with their classmates. Finally, they’ll return to their large group to learn what exactly a frog is and learn the song “One Little, Two Little, Three Little Frogs” (parents be prepared, we just might ask you to sing this song with your children a little later).
Once the song has been memorized, teachers will return a “line of frogs” to the cafeteria. You might notice your frogs wearing a graduation shirt upon their return. This is to give them an idea of what’s to come one day! Students will sing their song with their parents, and then parents will be asked to come forward to get their child.
After this, we’ll see y’all for the first day of school on August 13th! We’re excited to get this adventure started for the class of 2038!
