Victoria ISD wants to alert our students, parents, and community to a social media threat that is currently circulating nationally.
The social media threat did not originate in our community or in Texas, but there is a high probability that we will eventually see it pop up in our community. Like most social media threats of this type, the intent is to disrupt school and to incite fear and panic within communities that eventually receive the post.
To inform our community early in a preemptive and preventive manner, we simply want to elevate your awareness of the existence of this post. The social media post has been shared with School Resource Officers, and we have no reason to believe that our students, staff, and community are in danger.
Out of an abundance of caution, however, we are elevating our threat level awareness to alleviate any anxieties created as a result of this post.
The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.
Thank you for your support in speaking to your students about the seriousness of social media responsibility and that they should always report suspicious activity to law enforcement and campus leaders.
