Victoria ISD is pleased to announce that Krista Wilkerson, current assistant principal at Torres Elementary, will transition into a new leadership role as principal of Schorlemmer Elementary School beginning with the 2025–26 school year.
Wilkerson, who currently serves as the assistant principal at Torres Elementary, brings a strong background in instructional leadership and a student-centered approach to her new role at Schorlemmer. Her transition to Schorlemmer follows a leadership shift in the district: current Schorlemmer Principal Elizabeth Chandler will assume the principalship at Cade Middle School, succeeding Jill Lau, who is retiring after an impactful career in education.
Wilkerson began her career in VISD as a substitute teacher before joining the district as a classroom teacher in 2009 at Vickers Elementary, where she taught for 14 years. She has served as assistant principal at Torres Elementary for the past two years, building a strong reputation for collaboration, consistency, and a deep commitment to student growth. She holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from the University of Houston–Victoria.
“I am truly honored to join the Schorlemmer Elementary community as principal,” said Wilkerson. “I look forward to building strong partnerships with students, staff, and families as we continue Schorlemmer’s tradition of excellence.”
Victoria ISD is confident that Wilkerson’s leadership will continue to elevate student achievement and engagement at Schorlemmer Elementary, and we welcome her to this important role.
